Barbara Asante, has been awarded the Outstanding Mobile Insurance Personality of the year prize at the National Women in Finance Awards held in Accra, Ghana.
The awards seek to inspire, motivate and coach the current and next generation of women in finance to aspire to greater heights of individual and corporate excellence. The winners will become these ambassadors of economic empowerment for their nation.
Barbara was commended for her commitment to building awareness and industry standards for insurance in Ghana. It was also recognition of the role she plays in running the largest private insurance scheme in the country. Barbara started her career in BIMA a call-centre sales agent, progressing to become head of a profitable and pioneering division and an integral part of the regional management team.
Commenting on the award, Barbara said, “I’m very pleased to win this prestigious award and I am thankful to the management and team of BIMA Insurance for their support. I am really proud to be part of a team that is working incredibly hard to provide insurance cover to many Ghanaians especially those in the informal sector and the underprivileged”.
Gustaf Agartson, Global CEO for BIMA praised Barbara for her outstanding contributions to the team while Russell Haresign, Country Manager for BIMA Ghana thanked her for her dedication and commitment.
