Alastair Douglas has joined BIMA, the insurtech pioneer bringing microinsurance to underserved families in emerging markets, as Global Head of Operations.
Alastair’s background in telco, consulting, sales and back-office operations across several emerging markets will be key to managing BIMA’s rapid growth and scale across 14 countries worldwide. His operational experience will help BIMA to grow by improving customer experience and its financial performance. With 50 employees based between Stockholm and London, and over 3,500 sales agents in emerging markets across Latin America, Africa and Asia, the company is one of the fastest growing microinsurance providers globally.
Alastair was formerly a managing director at Capita, working for the international business process management and outsourcing company to introduce a new robotics business. Previously he held a number of senior positions at TalkTalk, as Head of Customer Experience and was responsible for the Fibre and Consumer businesses. Alastair is an expert in redesigning processes and implementing new technology to enable businesses to scale.

Alastair will be working from BIMA’s London office with direct responsibility for operations across all BIMA’s markets. This will include leveraging customer experience to expand its footprint across Latin America, Africa and Asia. He will also be focused on improving efficiency throughout the business by redesigning it’s processes where necessary, including in call centres and back office functions.
