Following the success of “Tigo Family Care Insurance”, launched with Tigo Ghana in 2010, and “X-tra Life”, launched in Nov 2011, BIMA is continuing to break new ground in West Africa with the recent launch of a hospital support insurance plan with Tigo Ghana.
Tigo Hospital Support provides registered customers protection against financial losses incurred during hospitalization for only GHS 1.40 a month. Customers receive a payout when they spend a minimum of two night in the hospital up to a maximum of 30 nights in a year.
The first customer claim for the product was paid out in October 2013 through BIMA’s dedicated claims office. BIMA has developed an innovative distribution channel to continuously enable Tigo customers to register for the product easily at any Tigo customer service center, through Tigo BIMA agents nationwide or by calling the Tigo customer service hotline. The policy is underwritten by BIMA’s insurance partner Express Life Insurance Company Limited.
