BIMA named Overall Winner and People’s Choice Award Winner
Takes home Overall Winner and People’s Choice Award
BIMA has won the Wall Street Journal and Met Life Financial Inclusion Award in recognition of its role bringing insurance to the underserved at scale. BIMA was named Overall Winner and took home the People’s Choice Award, receiving the most votes by the public.
The Award showcases solutions to the problems of financial access for the poor in the Asia-Pacific region. The judging criteria looked for innovative, sustainable, scalable and impactful strategies that increase access to individuals who have not had access to such programs, products and services historically.
BIMA was the clear winner proving scale and viability of its model while demonstrating real impact for consumers at the bottom-of-the-pyramid. At the time of submission, BIMA had brought insurance to 18 million people in Asia, over 90% of whom are accessing these services for the first time.
